about us

CANSO - the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation -

is the global voice of the companies that provide air traffic control. Founded in 1996, it represents the interests of the Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) worldwide.

Mission

The Mission of CANSO is to provide a global platform for customer and stakeholder driven civil Air Navigation Services (ANS), with paramount emphasis on the provision of safe, efficient and cost effective service.

Membership is divided into two categories:

Full Members

Any organisation established to provide Air Navigation Services.

Associate Members

Any other organisation, such as suppliers of goods and services to the broad ANS industry & Academic institutions and Aircraft Operators.

CANSO Regions

Regional activity supplements CANSO's international approach to developing common industry positions and the resolution of key industry issues. Whilst CANSO HQ is based in the Netherlands, just outside Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the organisation also supports a European Regional Office in Brussels and an office in Montreal, Canada. Other CANSO regions are Africa/Asia/Pacific, the Americas and also Eurasia, which comprises many of the countries within what was formerly the USSR.

Members' Interests

International Liaison and Representation to promote and defend Members' interests requires that CANSO cooperates closely with representatives from the Aviation Industry, Governmental and Inter-Governmental organisations. To this goal, CANSO works closely with ICAOIATA and ACI, in addition to regional institutions such as the European Commission and Eurocontrol. CANSO has been a prime force in the promotion of the separation between ANS regulations and service provision and is recognised as the principal exponent of customer focused Air Navigation Services.

Co-operation

The over-riding CANSO Philosophy is to provide a partnership forum to stimulate active co-operation and trust both between Members and also between Members and the other stakeholders across the aviation industry.
