phil.stollery@lochard.com The EnvWG Mission is to promote the need to deliver air traffic management in ways that mitigate the impact of aircraft operations on the environment. It is therefore committed to the following goals for improving aviation sustainability:
• To develop metrics and targets for the reduction of environmental impact
• To define and advance best practice in environmental management for ANSPs and to promote implementation as widely as possible
• To influence environmental policy, regulations and legislation, to balance capacity, efficiency and the environment, without compromising safety
• To enhance understanding of ATM’s environmental impact and mitigation measures.
The CANSO Voluntary Environmental Code of Practice, comprising a set of objectives and underlying commitments, provides the framework for future workgroup activities and a report on progress in implementing the code will be presented on an annual basis.
In April 2008 we will host our first ever CANSO and ACI Aviation Environment workshop to allow ATM and airports to showcase our environmental initiatives to industry, lobby groups, media, and the public. The Workshop will take place on 21 April, just before the annual Aviation and Environment Summit. To register for these events please go to www.environment.aero.
