18 June 2008

CANSO, the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation, has today elected a new Executive Committee at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting in Madeira. The new elected members are Lim Kim Choon, Director General and CEO of CAAS (Singapore), Hank Krakowski, COO of the FAA ATO (USA), and Emanuil Radev, Director General of ATSA (Bulgaria). Neil Planzer, Boeing Vice President ATM Strategy, was elected as the Associate Member representative. They will complement the remaining committee members - Paul Barron, CEO of NATS (UK), Eamonn Brennan, Chief Executive of the IAA (Ireland), and Christoph Baubin, the CEO of AustroControl.

The Board is chaired by Ashley Smout, CEO of Airways New Zealand, who was elected for a fourth term of 12 months.

Mr Smout said “I am delighted to have been elected by the Executive Committee to serve as Chairman for another 12 months. It is an honour and a privilege to Chair an organisation like CANSO. Our IMAGINE 2010 programme is revolutionising CANSO and it would not be possible without the dedicated support of the Executive Committee. I wish to extend my thanks to the departing members, and welcome Lim, Hank, Emanuil and Neil. I look forward very much to continue our vital work on behalf of the world’s ANSPs.”
