CANSO calls for SES Package 2 to focus on implementation
14 March 2008
CANSO, the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation, has called for a renewed focus on a performance-based framework for the Singe European Sky package II. Speaking following a day of discussions with Daniel Calleja-Crespo, Director of Air Transport in DG TREN, Marie Desseaux, CANSO’s Director of European Affairs, made it clear that ANSPs were making progress on FABs, and that SES 2 needs to focus on implementation and performance if progress is to be made.
Desseaux said:
“CANSO’s European members are working hard to make the FABs a reality – we have laid the groundwork for important steps forward on a Single European Sky. But we need the EU Commission to produce a package which will drive forward the implementation of the vision, and enhance performance by adjusting the institutional and regulatory framework.
CANSO has submitted detailed input to the SES 2 initiative, giving our views on issues such as FAB’s, target-setting, and economic regulation. We continue to believe that a combination of the pro-active steps being taken by ANSPs, together with an enabling regulatory package, will make Single European Sky a reality.”
