Africa
CANSO is a growing presence in this region of the world. ATNS South Africa based in Johannesburg is one of CANSO’s founding members and continues to be the CANSO standard-bearer in sub-Saharan Africa, along with NAMA Nigeria and CAA Uganda. Air Navigation Services in Africa are an important infrastructure as many regions can only be accessed by air. In recent years the African skies have seen in the introduction of Reduced Vertical Separation Minima (RVSM) which has delivered much improved efficiencies to the continent. In North Africa NANSC Egypt and OACA Tunisia are involved in various CANSO programmes and maintain a close relationship with their European counterparts across the Mediterranean skies.
