Adding five days to the week
A funny quote that I often like to say is by H. Jackson Brown Jr. It states “find a job you like and you add five days to every week”. The last few weeks I have spent working within the CANSO secretariat. This has been a wonderful experience, finally meeting all the people that I speak to via email and phone. What it has done is open my eyes to what they achieve and also, what is expected from me! I can truly say, I have added five days to my week – I am enjoying this job!
The CANSO office is a high pressure environment, as the output is intense and demanding. The individuals involved are committed to many things, but what I found common, was their commitment to change. Their commitment to see CANSO grow into the organisation it can be and to grow in stature and influence.
As I sat on the plane going back to Australia, I began to appreciate how CANSO has in fact evolved and grown. Each individual in this organisation is not the same as when they started, they have begun a journey that will only continue to demand more commitment and energy.
The environment Workgroup is on the cusp of delivering the Imagine 2010 work programme, this has required commitment by the secretariat, the Chairman and of course the members, who contribute in their part-time capacity. The challenge for this group is to be inspired to change, inspired to grasp the Waypoint 2013 strategy and evolve their thinking to move towards further collaboration and going beyond the voice of global ATM to becoming the transformer!
This is a huge challenge for anybody in any organisation and one that the CANSO secretariat has embraced. The challenge is for the Workgroups to also embrace this challenge and continue to support and work hard to help CANSO achieve this too!!
Wherever there is change, there is opportunity, now is the time for you to get involved, play your part in the transformation of global ATM. See you at the
next Environment Workgroup meeting!!
