Live from the Quality Management WG Meeting: Looking Forward to an Unplanned Weekend in Belgrade

It started as business as usual. But with the cloud of volcanic ash moving southeast from Iceland discussions shifted from just QM-related issues to “WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CIRCUMNAVIGATE THE CLOUD?”
Thanks to access to the internet, we could check current press releases of Airlines and affected ANSPs during today’s meeting. As it turned out - some of us have to stay in Belgrade until Sunday, others are making their way home via different airports while some colleagues were offered combinations of bus and train rides.
First Analysis of Fitness Check Part 1 So, we actually planned to report live from the Meeting and inform you that the first de-identified analysis of the Fitness Check Part 1 has been conducted by the QMWG.
What we would like to share with you at this point of time, is that more than 50% of our membership has already sent their responses and recommendations. Early comments have been very positive and have shown that the Fitness Check has stimulated interesting discussions and awareness within individual ANSPs. Overall, the QMWG felt that the Fitness Check activity is highlighting clear trends and common priorities for CANSO members. So, we really encourage all CANSO Full Members who have not done so yet to undertake the Fitness Check Part 1 internally and send the results, in confidence, to CANSO

The QMWG also decided to work with a Steering Group, consisting of a Chair and 3 Vice Chairs. Klaus Golinski, former QMWG Chair (pictured, left) stands with the newly elected Steering Group Vice-Chairs Andrea Sack of AustroControl, Kjersti Disen of Avinor, and Jana Surinova, LPS of the Slovak RepublicChair with Chair Giles Patemen of NATS.
