Environment

The environmental impact of aviation has always been a key issue for ATM. In the past, ANSPs devoted most of their attention to reducing the noise and local emissions around airports, as this reflected the priorities of society. In recent years however, climate change and CO2 emissions have joined noise as a vital issue. Our key goal is for

ATM to increase airspace efficiency to 96% by 2050. On noise, we assist our members with best practice and guidance material to enable them to deal with the unique noise issues each ANSP faces. CANSO’s ATM & Environment Workgroup seek to understand and limit aviation’s environmental footprint and have adopted an environmental code of conduct, agreed a number of measurements and targets, and exchange best practice to improve environmental performance.

  • 29 Mar 2010Adding five days to the week
A funny quote that I often like to say is by H. Jackson Brown Jr. It states “find a job you like and you add five days to every week”. The last few weeks I have spent working within the CANSO secretariat. This has been a wonderful experience, finally meeting all the people that I speak to via email and phone. What it has done is open my eyes to what they achieve and also, what is expected from me! I can truly say, I have added five days to my week – I am enjoying this job!
