ICAO CEANS - 14 September
CANSO Secretary General, Alexander ter Kuile, addressed the ICAO CEANS conference at ICAO headquarters in Montreal on 14 September, 2008.

Alexander called on the ICAO CEANS Conference to play its part in resolving the inefficiences in global aviation. Explaining that aviation is suffering "ill-health" he went on to say that the CEANS Conference must be seen as "part of the medicine, as collectively you have the powers to heal the weaknesses of the world's aviation system".
AGM Imagine 2010 - 16 June

CANSO Secretary General Alexander ter Kuile looked at progress made on Imagine 2010 since its introduction three months earlier, and how the CANSO work programmes can make an extraordinary contribution to the global ATM Community. Alexander also explained the rationale behind the need for a significant review of the way CANSO and its Members conduct themselves.

3rd Environment Summit 22-23 April
CANSO Secretary General Alexander ter Kuile made two speeches at the Third Aviation and Environment Summit, which was held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Geneva, on 22-23 April 2008.

In the opening session of the Summit, Alexander shared the platform with Giovanni Bisignani of IATA, Robert Aaronson of ACI, and Marion Blakey of ICCAIA. Alexander's speech was notable for its impassioned call for the industry to work together as 'one system' to create a vision for a sustainable aviation industry, which must then engage in the most direct and honest way possible with society, if it is to gain public permission to continue to expand.

The following day, at the beginning of Session 3, Alexander spoke as a replacement for Paul Barron of NATS, who was unable to attend the Summit. Alexander gave a review of the ACI-CANSO pre-Summit Workshop, which focused on the solutions to environmental challenges being developed by airports and ANSPs. He concluded by posing some questions to a panel of infrastructure and operations representatives, including David McMillan of Eurocontrol, Dan Elwell of the FAA, and Captain Mary McMillan of ALPA.
ATC Global 2008 - 11 March

CANSO Secretary General Alexander ter Kuile announced that at the Association's EGM the previous day, Members approved a three-year strategy called "Imagine 2010", under which CANSO puts additional focus on, and dedicates additional resource to Safety, Environment and Business Transformation; three key issues that will ensure that CANSO and its members are placed at the centre of a new dawn for Air Traffic Management.

EGM - 10 March
CANSO Secretary General Alexander ter Kuile explained that CANSO is at a crossroads in its development and outlines, in detail, a three-year stategy called "Imagine 2010", a plan of action which would transform CANSO into an "Extraordinary" global trade association.
