Key Priorities and the Operations Steering Committee

Through its workgroups, the Operations Standing Committee (OSC) seeks to improve global ANS provision and performance. The OSC is responsible for delivering the following key priorities:

  • Provide guidance and strategic vision to the work undertaken by both internal and external workgroups and committees on matters concerned with increasing the efficiency of ATM.
  • Develop a methodology, in conjunction with industry partners such as International Air Transport Association (IATA) and International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), to assess ATM operational capabilities and provide performance driven options for co-operative global improvements.
  • Establish formal links with key stakeholders such as Aeronautical Communication International (ACI), military users and others.
  • Promote the efficient and flexible use of airspace and encouraging civil/military collaboration.
  • Facilitate the transition from AIS to AIM.
  • Propose recommendations for CANSO members to improve operational and technical management processes and performance.
