ANSP Statistics

CANSO collates a number of key industry statistics which it uses to better understand industry trends, and to benchmark ANSP performance. One key statistic is the amount of IFR movements handled by each CANSO member. Each month the previous monthly activity per member will be published on this page, and in CANSO News.

CANSO members calculate IFR movements as a combination of total domestic flights, plus overflights, plus international arrivals and departures

Further industry data can be found in the ANSP Global Benchmarking summary document which is available on the ATM Performance page.

Apr 2009 vs Apr 2008

While a small number ANSPs recorded growth of up to 9.67% (NATA), the majority of ANSPs handled fewer movements. Sakaeronavigatsia, the ANSP for Georgia, reported the largest decrease of 20.71%.

In his presentation to the ICAO Council, 20 May 2009, CANSO Secretary General Alexander ter Kuile explained that fewer movements means reduced revenues, and called for more effective aviation policy to support ANSPs during the economic downturn.

Year to Date

Air traffic remains depressed with many ANSPs handling fewer movements in April 2009 compared to the corresponding period last year.
