Airspace Issue 35 - Q4, 2016

Ahead of the CANSO Latin America and Caribbean Conference 2016 on 5-7 December in San José, Costa Rica, this edition of Airspace focuses on transforming the performance of air traffic management through cross-border collaboration and more efficient operations.

We interview the CEO of Argentine ANSP, EANA, on how partnership and collaboration in the region is key to improving safety and efficiency in ATM.

We also hear from Metron Aviation, on how air traffic flow management (ATFM) is a key component of effective regional ATM.

Meanwhile, CANSO’s Director of Latin America and Caribbean Affairs, explores how CANSO is putting this theory into practice, showcasing a new, innovative regional initiative, the CANSO ATFM Data Exchange Network.

In addition, this issue features viewpoints from DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH on the importance of robust regulation and the Federal Aviation Administration’s Air Traffic Organization on effective health and safety processes, alongside in-depth analysis of competency based training and dynamic sectorisation.

Also featured is an insight into Google’s Project Loon, and how the team is working with air navigation service providers (ANSPs) to safely manage balloon technology in airspace.
