Airspace Issue 36 - Q1, 2017

Ahead of World ATM Congress 2017 (7-9 March), this edition of Airspace celebrates five years of this exciting event. From premier networking opportunities and a variety of workshops and educations sessions, to an informative and stimulating conference programme, World ATM Congress has grown to be the largest and most significant global event in the ATM calendar.

We also take a close look at new entrants into airspace, including the regulatory considerations and commercial opportunities related to drones, as well as the FAA’s perspective on safely integrating drones.

Looking forward to the CANSO Asia Pacific Conference 2017 (3-5 May), Li Tin-Chui, Simon, Director General of Civil Aviation in Hong Kong, offers insight into capacity improvements at Hong Kong International Airport.

Meanwhile, Boeing’s Doug Stoll, explores operational improvements at San Francisco Airport that could increase airport arrival throughput and reduce environmental impact.

Continuing the theme of improving operational efficiency in the run up to the CANSO Global ATM Operations Conference 2017 (9-10 March), we highlight the latest CANSO best practice guidance aimed at harnessing the opportunities PBN can bring in the future, and guiding ANSPs on improving environmental performance.
