Organisation Profile

COCESNA is a non-profit and public service organisation of Central American Integration with legal status and financial autonomy. It was established on February 26th 1960 as a result of an agreement between five Central American countries (Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvadorand Nicaragua); Belize acceded to COCESNA in 1995.It holds exclusive rights for the provision of air traffic services, aeronautical telecommunications, navaids and aeronautical information for the territories of the Member States and contracting parties.

COCESNA's cooperative endeavour has significantly reduced the cost of providing such services and proved successful in meeting the demand for regional development and technological progress of aviation.

In October 1976, the 11th Edward Warner Award, ICAO's highest honour, was conferred upon COCESNA for its contribution to the provision of efficient and coordinated air navigation and communication services that have remarkably increased the safety of international flights in the Central American region.
