What is on the horizon in the use of commercial drones?

Doug Davis, Director of Airworthiness, Northrop Grumman Park Air and Co-Chair, CANSO RPAS and Emerging Technologies Workgroup (RPAS/ET WG) on new entrants to airspace

The first panel at the CANSO Global ATM Operations Conference 2018 is a look at what is being considered in the field of commercial drones.

The impact of unmanned aircraft, whether RPAS or 'drones', is causing a tsunami within the airspace system as we know it, and air navigation service providers (ANSPs) are being pressured to accommodate and integrate this emerging capability across the globe.

When does it project to be in my location? If/when it arrives, what can ANSPs expect to have to do? What services will ANSPs provide? How will this impact air traffic? What equipment is needed? What about training? What about UAS Traffic Management (UTM)? Does that compliment ATM or interoperate or replace it? Who 'owns' it? Come and listen to the innovative thinkers of this emerging technology on the most operationally focused stage yet.

Join us at this year's CANSO Global ATM Operations Conference 2018 where the theme is ATM Short-Term Realities and Long-Term Visions. The conference will bring to Madrid, Spain, leading ANSPs, industrials and aircraft manufacturers to share on the same stage the needs and visions for improving today and anticipating tomorrow.

You will get an updated picture of the current status and initiatives in the bubbling field of unmanned traffic management, discover the new challenges and possibilities brought by the digital enhancement and the remote towers where you'll hear from the current four manufacturers. Finally, they will delve into the future and have a glimpse into how new aircraft capabilities will impact ANSPs' ground technology and procedures.

Take-in the full benefits of world-class panel of specialists and interact through an electronic questionnaire with the participants and panellists. The network with worldwide ATM insiders including CANSO Workgroup members will surely make the wrap-up discussions interesting and exciting.
